All About the Hardware

Making over vintage pieces is always a fun and interesting journey. There are so many ideas to consider. We love to lacquer our pieces in bright colors and upgrade upholstery. However, one of our biggest secrets to updating a piece is to change the hardware. Below we explore easy ways to reinvent your pieces.

First up, we swapped out the original hardware for their gold counterparts. Against the lacquered green, the gold makes a bold statement.

Sometimes the hardware is more than just drawer pulls or knobs. Celebrate some of the original piece’s details by highlighting them in gold as well.

This elaborate gold hardware balances out the carved wood details.

The gold knob contrasts dramatically from its blue background, allowing its details to shine.

Embrace chinoiserie by highlighting the original pulls against a dark background.

Gold and white is always a favorite pairing. These gold bamboo-inspired pulls match the bamboo details of the chest of drawers.

A second option is changing the hardware entirely. This is an inexpensive way to modernize the piece. While we also painted this desk, the drawer knobs add a graphic detail to the look.

These pulls add a touch of glamour, highlighting the simple silhouette.

Think of drawer pulls and knobs as jewelry for your furniture.
