A Lake House Retreat

We were so excited when our client approached us about decorating her new vacation home. She was building a beautiful lake house and needed a chic yet relaxed interior that would serve as a family gathering destination. Plus, it had to be durable, since people would be walking directly off the beach and right into the kitchen!

Our client wanted an easy place to entertain that was sophisticated but casual. We did not visit the home before jumping in, basing our designs from floor plans and many FaceTime chats. Cohesiveness and flow were essential to make this open floor plan work, so we went to market to find some foundation pieces to build upon.

Seating was a priority, since the space would be used for entertaining family and friends. Once we chose blue as the main color, Β we focused on adding glamorous details (like white contrast piping). Scale was an issue: the space had high ceilings, so a custom lighting plan was crucial. The light fixtures ended up being “one of (her) favorite things in the house.”

While our client was very involved with the decision making process, the final product was still a surprise and looked completely “different than what (she) imagined.” She loved how well the space flowed together and couldn’t wait to enjoy a cup of coffee on her custom furniture overlooking the lake.

I love your vintage Rattan pieces! I would like to paint my old rattan in navy blue.
Can you please tell me what brand paint (lacquer) and color navy you used in your Fick and Read makeover photos.

Thank you so much for your help.
P.S. Are you still selling pieces of Fick and Read rattan.?
